It all began back in 1977 in Frankfurt am Main, when Michaela Rose became winner of a
competition of Young Star Records. After this around her a girl band was created. It was the
time when DISCO was at its peak and the so called ‚Munich Sound’ conquered the whole world.
Bands such as Boney M., Dschinghis Khan, Baccara and similar that appeared on the tops of
charts worldwide.
The new girl band has been given the very tuneful name ARABESQUE and song recordings have
been started. The first single release was “Hello Mister Monkey” that immediately jumped into
the Japanese charts, national and international both. The song stood there for 38 weeks and
was several weeks at the Number One Spot. They topped even Paul McCartney and have been
on the same level like ABBA these days. You can easily check this by the fact that a collector’s
box has been released including all albums of ABBA and Arabesque. Meanwhile her colleagues
became pregnant one by one and had to be replaced, Michaela was the only member that was
in the group from the beginning until the end.
But the success of this girl band was not only located in Japan: all over other Asian countries,
Russia, Egypt, Latin- and South America and of course in Europe the three young Ladies
became very famous.
Arabesque have been decorated several times with Golden-Record-Awards and other important
distinctions (f.e. Goldene Europa). In Japan only they sold more than 14 millions of records and
year by year hundreds of thousand CDs still are bought.
In the middle of the 80ies the music slightly changed away from Disco sounds more into New
Wave, Pop and Funk and so the band split 1985. Michaela Rose still was performing together
with Jasmin in a project called Rouge. They released for example for the Japanese market an
album that was sung completely in Japanese language.
But Michaela was never only interested in singing. She appeared in several TV productions as an
actress, was interested in esoterically science, became a Reiki Master and got enormous skills in
Numerology and Tarot.
When in 2006 the demands for a comeback of Arabesque went louder and louder, a new line
up was created around Michaela Rose and since then the band tours with an immense success
throughout Russia and the former USSR countries. Wherever they appear, they are warmly
welcomed by fans that still admire them like Superstars.
They even perform for chiefs of state. They have been invited to Kazakhstan for an exclusive
event and have been singing for Mr. President Nursultan Äbischuly Nasarbajew himself.
Russian TV teams have been sent numerous times from Moscow to Frankfurt to shoot home
stories about the band.
